Keep the board in your mind

Starting uses one daily puzzle. Turn your sound on for the position.
Rules
Find the winning moves with the board hidden. Review spoken or typed moves, then confirm your answer.
Repeating the original position or asking where your pieces started has no penalty. One distinct hint allows 50% of a successful solve’s rating gain; two or more allow 25%. Repeating the same hint has no extra penalty. Questions about the current board or evaluation count as hints.
Revealing the board or answer, or asking whether a move is correct, immediately records one rated miss. Confirming a wrong move also records a miss.
The first result stays saved. You can keep practicing afterward without changing it.
Questions you can ask
Speak or type one question at a time. Try these examples, or use similar wording. The rating notes apply before your first result is saved.
Free reminders
These do not affect your rating.
- Repeat the starting position
- “Repeat the position.”

Hints and position checks
These count as hints and reduce a successful solve’s rating gain.
- Find a piece in the current position
- “Where is my king now?”
- Check a square
- “What is on e4?”
- Get a hint
- “Can I get a hint?”
- Hear the evaluation, when available
- “What is the current evaluation?”
- Check whether a move is legal
- “Is rook to e1 legal?”
- Repeat feedback on the last checked move
- “Why was that move wrong?”
Reveal or check the solution
These immediately record a rated miss. You can keep practicing afterward.
- Check whether a move solves the puzzle
- “Is rook to e1 correct?”
- Reveal the board
- “Show the board.”
- Reveal the solution
- “Reveal the answer.”
Last-move feedback repeats the checked result; it does not explain the full tactic.
To answer, say or type “rook a1” or “rook takes queen”, then confirm the interpreted move.
